{"id":4376,"date":"2019-01-22T07:28:29","date_gmt":"2019-01-22T15:28:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.doublecointires.com\/double-coin-rises-above\/"},"modified":"2022-12-14T10:34:38","modified_gmt":"2022-12-14T18:34:38","slug":"double-coin-rises-above","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.doublecointires.com\/es\/double-coin-rises-above\/","title":{"rendered":"Double Coin Places 2nd Against Top Major Brands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">s it time to redefine the tiers?&nbsp;<span>Double Coin rises through the ranks in two independent fuel efficiency tests for line haul and regional applications.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p> <!--more--> <\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.doublecointires.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Double Coin<\/a><\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Michelin and Continental were invited to participate in the tests by FPInnovations\u2019 PIT Group, a neutral third-party research organization. The results among all three brands were close, with Continental coming out on top and Double Coin second.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The PIT Group ran two separate comparison tests on steer, drive, and trailer tires <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.doublecointires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PIT20Group20photo.jpg\" alt=\"PIT Group photo\" width=\"376\" style=\"width: 376px; float: right; margin: 0px 10px 10px 3px;\">run on three identically spec\u2019d tractors and trailers. The tests were conducted according to TMC Fuel&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Consumption Test Procedure \u2013 Type III, RP 1103A. One test was a line haul test and the other was a regional haul test. In each test a tractor trailer combination was mounted with a complete set of steer, drive and trailer tires from each manufacturer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.doublecointires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/1_FD405-FINAL.jpg\" alt=\"FD405-FINAL\" width=\"220\" style=\"width: 220px; float: left; margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px;\">n the line haul test the Double Coin tires tested were the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.doublecointires.com\/tire\/rr680\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">RR680<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.doublecointires.com\/tire\/fd405\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FD405<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;(pictured to the left) and the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.doublecointires.com\/tire\/im105\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">IM105<\/a><\/strong> patterns. The Continental tires tested were the Eco Plus HS3 on steer, HDL2 on drives and the HT3 on the trailer position. The Michelin tires tested were the X-Line Energy Z steer tires, the X-Line Energy D drive tires and the X-Line Energy T trailer tires.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The tires ran a series of test runs on the test track, and then tires and tractors-trailers-drivers were switched so that any vehicle difference or driver difference would not influence the test results. The results of the line haul test were as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Fuel Consumption (L\/100 km)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">31.99 &#8211; Continental<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">32.54 \u2013 Double Coin<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">32.68 &#8211; Michelin<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Fuel Economy (MPG)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7.35 \u2013 Continental<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7.23 \u2013 Double Coin<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7.20 &#8211; Michelin<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The regional test was run using the same methodology, but with tires designed <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.doublecointires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Double20Coin20RR15020-20low20res.jpg\" alt=\"Double Coin RR150 - low res.\" width=\"172\" style=\"width: 172px; float: right; margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px;\">for&nbsp;regional applications from each manufacturer. The Double Coin tires tested in the regional test were the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.doublecointires.com\/tire\/rt606\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">RT606+<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.doublecointires.com\/tire\/rlb1\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">RLB1 <\/a><\/strong>and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.doublecointires.com\/tire\/rr150\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">RR150<\/a>&nbsp;<\/strong>(pictured to the right). The Continental tires tested were the Hybrid HS3, HDR2 Eco Plus, and the HT3. The Michelin tires tested were the XZE2, XDN2, and the XZE2.
